I made the mistake of posting a picture of Basil on a Harlan County Facebook page. Since Ive been gone, Harlanlike all of Eastern Kentuckyhas been devastated by prescription drug abuse. I left Ky in 1990 but go back very very often. I was able to buy it when we lived in the Corbin area for $20 a box. My parents didnt ever say much about their lives or or about my Grandfathers as both of them met violent deaths back then. My Mom was a nurse at the hospital there (where I was born in 66). Maybe they never left. No matter where Ive traveled in this great country, I never fail to meet someone that is either from Harlan, or knows someone that lives there!!
